Our Kaupapa
Professional Learning & Development
Guided by our values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we support schools to design localised, culturally grounded learning that honours tangata whenua.
We uphold the values of Tapatahi (integrity), Whakaute (professionalism), Ngākaunui (commitment), and Māori (in thought and action) in all our work with schools and kāhui ako.
Through tailored PLD, we strengthen Kahungunu cultural capability at governance, leadership, and teaching levels, supporting schools to bring Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Ngāti Kahungunu Mātauranga Strategy 2020, and Kahungunu, Kia Eke to life. We help normalise Kahungunutanga through localised curriculum design.
Kauwaka became an iwi-endorsed PLD provider in 2023, specialising in cultural capability, local curriculum, mātauranga Māori, and te reo Māori.

Embed hapū reo, pūrākau and histories into curriculum to inspire all learners
Uplift iwi aspirations and mātauranga strategies
