Our Programmes

At Kauwaka, all our workshops are designed to help you make real-world connections with te ao Māori through language and culture. From tikanga and marae protocols to the whānau home, cultural events and personal growth. You’ll learn with confidence, inclusion, and purpose.

Kura Tikanga is the perfect opportunity to explore the foundational concepts of Māori customs and values. This module is designed for individuals and organisations, particularly those with little prior knowledge, who want to integrate tikanga Māori into everyday life and business environments with confidence and respect.
Kura Haumanu is a full-day workshop designed to equip individuals, whānau, and organisations with the tools needed to revitalise te reo Māori in their own lives and communities. Our language revitalisation experts and skilled facilitators will guide you through practical language planning, dialect exploration, and case study discussions.
Kura Tahito more than a wānanga; it’s a rare and intensive opportunity to deepen your understanding of whaikōrero, karanga, kawa, and tikanga under the guidance of esteemed exponents of Māori oratory and protocol today.
Kura Kāinga is a full-day practical workshop designed for anyone involved in keeping the marae functioning - whether in governance, a management role, or any of the many behind-the-scenes support roles that keep the lights on at home.
Kura Tātai is a one-day immersive workshop designed for those ready to explore and document their whakapapa. Whether you're beginning your journey or looking to deepen existing knowledge, this wānanga provides practical tools to help you access historical records, engage with kaumātua, and organise your genealogical findings in a meaningful way.

About Kauwaka

Kauwaka was established in 2020 as a vehicle to contribute to the language and cultural revitalisation efforts within Ngāti Kahungunu. We experienced exponential growth and now deliver services across Aotearoa and the world.
